The Future of Compute with Cisco Intersight
By John Gardner | 50 Min Video
Learners will be introduced to the Cisco Intersight Dashboard. We will then cover how to claim a live UCSX domain. And finally, we will show the learners how to create and deploy a Server Profile on a compute blade. After attending this session, you will be able to navigate the Cisco Intersight Dashboard, Claim and UCSX Domain, and Apply a Server Profile to a compute node.

Cloud-Based Management
- Cisco Intersight is a cloud-based management platform that provides centralized control of UCSX systems, replacing traditional fabric interconnects and UCS managers.
- The platform offers a single pane of glass for managing all UCSX systems, including firmware updates, boot policies, and BIOS configurations.
System Integration
- To claim a UCSX domain, users navigate to “System > Targets”, select “Inner Site Managed Domain”, and obtain the domain ID and claim code from the device connector page.
- Intersight provides real-time views of UCSX systems, including chassis discovery, server discovery, and internal component discovery.
Advanced Management Features
- The new UCSX system uses API connections from the cloud to fabric interconnects for managing service profiles, boot policies, BIOS configurations, and firmware updates.
- Intersight supports single sign-on and LDAP authentication for secure access to the management interface.
Server Profiling
The platform enables server profiling, which includes creating UUIDs, MAC addresses, and worldwide node and port names.
User Interface
Intersight offers a simple and intuitive interface for managing UCSX systems, including infrastructure services, fabric interconnects, and servers.
Management Paradigm Shift
UCSX systems leverage a different type of management compared to traditional fabric interconnects and UCS managers, focusing on cloud-based control.
Real-Time Monitoring
The Intersight dashboard provides real-time monitoring of UCSX systems, allowing for immediate visibility into system status and performance.
